Muddy water running in flats of Baku and Sumgayit residents - PHOTO

08 July 2008 [11:44] - TODAY.AZ
Some time ago, residents of the Azerbaijani capital faced long-lasting absence of water.
But the quality of later supplied water, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired.

Thus, water supplied to a number of Baku districts was muddy yesterday and today.

This is proven by the discontented letters of our readers:

"Dear editorial staff!

I always read news from Azerbaijan on your website. Today (yesterday-editorial staff), I was shocked when I turned on water at home. Water was so muddy that it was impossible to have a bath with it.

I would like to draw your attention to photos, I have made today (yesterday-editorial staff). I live in the Nizami district of Baku, not far from the Qara Qarayev metro station. If possible, cover this material on your website. Thank you.

Respectfully, Fuad", wrote the reader to our news agency.

Moreover, it was defined that muddy water was running in the flats in Sahil, Bailov, Narimonov districts, near Ulduz metro station, near Ayna Sultanova monument, at D.Aliyev street, R.Behbudov street, in Ahmedli in Novkhany and in most other parts of the city.

"Dear editorial staff! I am a 62 year old retired. I would like to ask you to clarify the issue. The thing is that muddy water has been running in our flat yesterday and today (15 Q.Qarayev str). It is so muddy that we even can not wash hands with it. We do not know what is the reason, but we believe you will be able to get a response from the related instances to this question", writes Ahmed Huseynov.

It should be noted that yesterday muddy water was running in Sumgayit. According to Echo newspaper, it was connected with the fact that Sumgayit is supplied with water from Ceyranbatan village, where a landslide has recently occurred. Due to it, water remains muddy".

Day.Az correspondent tried to contact spokesman for Azersu company Akshin Rustamov but he did not answer the call.

The way out of the situation is obvious. Filters and water pipes, supplying water to Baku, do not cope with their cleaning task, which causes such kind of problems, though it is unclear why ordinary people should suffer from it.
