Leyla Aliyeva represents Youth movement for Alliance of Civilizations at Alliance Forum in Madrid

The due information has been provided by the office of the Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Conference for Dialogue and Cooperation.

While delivering a speech at the session on the issues of youth policy in te field of inter-cultural dialogue Leyla Aliyeva spoke about the High Level Conference held in Baku under the auspices of the OIC Youth Forum and Heydar Aliyev's Foundation held in Baku, in November of 2007,

It was noted that the said movement is Azerbaijan's contribution to strengthening of the inter-cultural dialogue on the global level. She also informed the participants about the recommendations of the Baku declaration on the Alliance of Civilizations.

In particular, she noted that for the purpose of real achievement of the tasks set before the UN Alliance, the youth dialogue in the framework of this global processes must be stable, equal and coordinated. It was proposed to create a coordination group of partners of the Movement and the UN Secretariat for Planning for fulfillment of recommendations of the Baku Forum.

During the event, L.Aliyev within the OIC Youth Forum delegation met with the leaders of international organizations, famous reporters and scientists and discussed multilateral cooperation on the implementation of the global project "Youth for the Alliance of Civilizations".

During the meeting with Turkey Prime Minister R.T.Erdogan, the sides discussed strengthening of the youth segment of the UN Alliance, co-sponsored by Turkey. The OIC Youth Forum proposed to hold the first international congress of the Alliance in Turkey in May of 2008. Erdogan highly appreciated the activity of the Forum in bringing the positions of the OIC youth to the High Level International Forums. He also praised the activity, carried out by Heydar Aliyev's Foundations in support of the international inter-cultural dialogue.

during the meeting of the UN Youth Forum delegation with Sheikh Musa bin Nasser, member of the High Level Group of the Alliance, the sides discussed cooperation between Heydar Aliyev's Foundation and the Fund for Education and Development of Quatar, in particular, in the support of the international movement "Youth for Alliance of Civilizations".

In the framework of the annual forum of the alliance Leyla Aliyeva also met with ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Al-Tvairji. During the meeting the sides reached an agreement to held an intergovernmental meeting of experts for creation of the educational program on common heritage in the headquarters of the OIC Youth Forum in Istanbul. The key point of the program will be the inclusion of the true information about the Khojali tragedy, recognized as massacres of civilians by Armenian armed forces to the educational program of the OIC member-states.

Dyring the meeting with famous reporter Al-Djazira Riz khanom Leyla Aliyeva discussed support of education of the youth in the Moslem countries in such spheres as mass media, political and social sciences for strengthening positions of the OIC member-states in process of formation of a balanced international public opinion and presentation of the true image of the Islamic civilization. In particular, she shared her experience of work with Azerbaijani students in Russia in the framework of activity for organization of the Diaspora youth.

The meetings of the delegation of the OIC Youth Forum with the director general on the issues of culture and education of the Council of Europe Gabriella Bataini Dragoni, Secretary General of the European Youth Forum Diogo Pinto, as well as leaders of international and regional youth organizations were also held in the framework of the forum.

During the UN Forum the OIC Youth Forum and the UN Secretariat reached an agreement on creation of a coordination mechanism for execution of the youth segment of the Alliance. The partners are CE, European Youth Forum, Secretariat of the Commonwealth and UNESCO.

In line with the reached agreement, the OIC Youth Forum will hold the first meeting of the Coordination Council next month.
