Fire hits trade center in Sumgayit

Fire occurred in a two-storey Galatasaray trade center in Azerbaijani city of Sumgayit at the night of April 13.

The fire caught flammable constructions and goods in the second floor. 400 sq/m of the 2,000 sq/m area of storehouse burnt. Firefights managed to extinguish the fire. Two firefighters injured during the incident. 38-year old Habil Asadov was poisoned from toxic gas and 28-year-old Dair Nurmatov injured in his arm while breaking the windows of the trade center. The injured were rendered first medical aid. The cost of the material damage has not yet been calculated.

The incident was probably caused by short circuit or extreme loading in electricity conductors, the investigation is being carried out on the fact.

Emergencies Ministry Public Affairs Office's press service told the APA the firefighters extinguished the fire at 01.25. The other parts of the building and neighboring buildings were protected from the fire. Two injured firefighters received medical aid. The firemen returned to their work. The cost of the damage is being calculated.
