Elmira Suleymanova: "Detainees mostly complain of not being allowed to meet with their lawyers and follow the media"

The state undertook commitments on bettering detention conditions of the detainees in isolation wards. At present this institution is being reconstructed, the chief of Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Office Elmira Suleymanova told the journalists.

She said that they are working on replacing some detention wards. The commissioner noted that she often visits detention wards, get acquainted with detention conditions and investigates whether the detatinees face tortures.

The detainees mostly complain of not being allowed to meet with their lawyers and follow the media, she said.

The commissioner said that they receive complaints from Interior Ministry Department fighting Against Organized Crimes, but in most cases this information does not reveal itself, APA reports.
