Ali Hasanov: "Subsidizing newspapers not on agenda"

"The increase of state newspaper prices is not on the agenda," said President's Office socio-political department Chief Ali Hasanov.

He told APA that the term "state newspapers" is conventional as only the newspapers of Writes' Union are financed by state budget. Other newspapers earn incomes from subscription and advertisements. The increase of the prices is due to the requirements of the market economy.

Hasanov pointed out the necessity for newspapers to meet economic requirements. He noted that the newspaper prices will be considered in case if printing fees and rental of the publishing houses are increased.

Hasanov stated that subsidizing newspapers is not on the agenda.
