Haji Mammadov: "Javadaga Sultanov was a gang member"

Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

In today's trial hearing, lawyer Adil Ismayilov asked questions to defendant Haji Mammadov. He confirmed Nizami Abdullayev testimonies to the investigation that the murders of Shirkhan Albiyev, Ruslan ukushov, Boris Eyyubov and Dilber Novruzova at Naila Guliyeva's house and filming of the murder of Azer Ismayilov department chief of Office to Fight Narcotic Drugs.

"Most of the murders were committed in Naila's house as it was large. But Naila was not at home. I recorded the murder of Azer on videocassette. I can present this film to the investigation if necessary," Haji Mammadov said.

Haji said though he was against murdering criminalist Rovshan Aliyev, he was forced to do that. "I did not want to kill Rovshan but I had to do that. I'll say the reason in the trial if necessary. I do not want to cause a stir now."

He also answered questions of lawyer on security of Zamira Hajiyeva after kidnapping. "I charged Asgar Isgenderov with protection of Zamira. But the defendants sitting here and those who are not here also protected Zamira. I can tell you names that are not known to the investigation. For instance, Javadaga Sultanov. He was actively involved in the murder of Boris Eyyubov. I want you to bring the criminals I name here and I will announce the rest," Haji said.

Public prosecutor Bashir Jafarov solicited for declaring controversial nuances regarding defendant Nizami Abdullayev's testimonies to the investigation and the trial. Judge satisfied the solicitation.

Public prosecutors announced Abdullayev's testimonies to the investigation on cruel murder of Azer Ismayilov, kidnapping of Murad Kazimov, murder of Rovshan Aliyev, kidnapping of Majid Mammadov, Ahmad Mammadov, Zamira Hajiyeva.

The trial will continue 28 September 28, APA reports.
