Doctors treating patients incorrectly to be held accountable

07 February 2006 [04:23] - TODAY.AZ
New bill on "Defense the patients' rights" is being worked out to defend the rights of patients going to the hospitals.

As APA reports, the Head of socio-political permanent commission of Milli Majlis Hadi Rajabli says all the laws connected to health exist in Azerbaijan except the one of defense of the rights of the patients.

New law will reflect that doctors who treat patients incorrectly will be held accountable, they will have to pay the damage the patient faces and so on: "Doctors who treat the patients incorrectly do not bear any responsibility now. This problem was reflected in the Civil Code, but it does not mean anything. Agreement has to be signed between the doctor and patient. Insurance and financial answerability of the doctors can be reflected in this agreement".

H.Rajabli says improper services of some hospitals makes necessary to prepare such a bill: "We pay and receive treatment in private hospitals but we don't notice quality of the treatment. Some cosmetologists make worse the faces of patients instead of treating. They treat the patients improperly".

According to Hadi Rajabli, a bill on social treatment of oncological diseases is being worked out now. Additions and amendments are expected to be made to the law on "Pharmacology".
