Crashed AN-140 black box found

Divers of the frontier troops the day before yesterday managed to find the black box containing flight data recorder of the Azerbaijan Airlines’ (AZAL) AN-140 crashed on Saturday near Baku killing all 23 people including 8 foreign citizens on board, AZAL said.
It was discovered in the plane’s tail sunk 50 m off the Caspian shore, and will be sent to one of foreign countries for decoding.

The Azerbaijan Airline’s AN-140 fell off radar screen a few minutes after taking off from Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport for Aktau, Kazakhstan. The wreckage was found hours later on the sea coast 30 m from Baku.

On the same day, the President of Azerbaijan ordered on setting up a State Commission to investigate the crash.

A group of Ukrainian specialists including representatives of the country’s State Aviation Service, the Antonov Aviation Scientific Technical Complex, Kharkov aircraft factory and Zaporojye aircraft engine manufacturer Motor-Sich. arrived in Baku to join the investigation.
