Latvia, Nizami Ganjavi Int'l Center to mull cooperation issues

Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis will receive members of the Board of Trustees of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center on September 2.

The officials will discuss work, future activities and  new projects of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, as well as cooperation prospects. Preparations for the 5th Global Baku Forum will also be discussed at the meeting, Azertac reported.

Participants in the meeting will include co-chair of the center, Latvian’s former President Vaira V??e-Freiberga, co-chair, Founding Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin, member of the Board of Trustees, chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Committee on Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, member of the center, Latvian’s former President Valdis Zatlers and others.

The leadership of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center will also hold meetings at the Latvian parliament and other state bodies.

The Latvian government and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center have maintained cooperation for several years. The Latvian capital of Riga hosted a high level meeting of the center in 2015.

Nizami Ganjavi International Center was created with the multiple aims of preserving the reach cultural heritage of the past as well as encouraging and fostering current scholarship, research, cultural activity and social outreach.

The Center moves forward to build, an institution worthy of bearing the great name of Nizami Ganjavi with hope it will become “a source of pride for Azerbaijan and the world”.
