Road closures, parking restrictions for cycling races

The road cycling competition started as part of the first European Games in Baku on June 19. Road cycling is one of the three disciplines featured within cycling as a sport that is a part of the Baku 2015 Games.

The road cycling competition that will end on June 21 will feature 146 men and 75 women. The road race for both women and men will be held around the city centre circuit of Baku, with Freedom Square featuring as the start and finish area. The venue for the time trial event will be Bilgah Beach, which will also host the Triathlon competition.

A number of central roads will not be available from June 19 to 21 in connection with the cycling events. Therefore, better if you abstain from using transport in the center of Baku during the cycling race.

The cycling route will cover the following streets and avenues: U. Hajibeyov street, Bulbul avenue, R. Zorge street, R. Behbudov street, Prospect Neftchilar, Z. Aliyeva street, A. Aliyev academician street, Lermontov street, Teymur Elchin street, M. Huseyn street, Prospect of the Parliament, Landau street, A. Bakyhanov street, S. Vurgun street, Sh. Badalbayli street, Prospect Inshaatchilar, H. Javid street and Istiglaliyyat street.

The traffic will be restricted from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on June 19, from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 29, from 3:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 21.

During the cycling competition, the parking on the above mentioned streets will not be permitted.

The City Traffic Police recommends drivers to refrain from trips to the aforementioned places by car, as 18 streets and avenues in the city will be closed on Friday. In short, the entrance to the city center will not be available for drivers during a few days.
