Border violators arrested

Azerbaijan’s State Border Service reported that 37 people were detained on 29 cases of the state border violation in May.

Among the arrested there are 24 citizens from Azerbaijan, three from Uzbekistan, three from Iran, two from Russia, one from Turkey, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Lithuania, the Service reported on June 10.

The six cases were linked with the state border violation on ground, while the remaining 23 related to the violation of sea border violations.

The border guards also detained 411 people on the wanted list. The detainees were transferred to law enforcement authorities.

The border guards also prevented transportation of over 33 kilograms of narcotic substance across the state border in May as a result of actions against drug trafficking.
