Azerbaijan is going through the last cold days of March, the country's National Hydrometeorology Department predicted.

However, after the unusually cold weather which will remain in Azerbaijan for another day, the temperature will begin to rise again on March 30, Head of Forecast Office of the Department said.

Umayra Tagiyeva said the cold weather will last only for one day, but in this short period weather conditions will change dramatically. The wind is expected to calm down in the evening of March 30, and mild weather will be in the country since March 31.

A sharp change in the weather usually affects sensitive people, so the number of calls to "emergency" will possibly increase due to the temperature decrease on March 30.

April, the second month of the spring, will be warm in Azerbaijan, the agency said.

Thus, the National Hydrometeorology Department predicted that the weather in April will be relatively warmer and more stable than March and February.

The average temperature in Baku and the Absheron peninsula will be 11-14 degrees above zero, which is slightly higher than the climatic norm. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be close to the norm (23-33 mm).

The situation in other Azerbaijani regions is slightly different. Azerbaijan's coldest districts will be Khankandi, Shusha, Khojali, Lachin, and Zangilan of the Upper Karabakh region as always. Their average temperature will be 10-13 degrees above zero.

Temperature is expected to be 5-10 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be close to the norm (29-126 mm).

Average temperature in Azerbaijan's Sheki, Oguz, Shamakha, Gazakh, Ganja, Goranboy, Khizi, Guba, Gusar, and Khachmaz will be 10-15 degrees above zero, which is also close to the climatic norm, while it is expected to be 5-10 degrees above zero at night.

Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Goychay, Agdash, Kurdamir, Imishli, Agjabadi, Beylagan, Sabirabad, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Shirvan, Hajigabul, Salyan, and Neftchala would be relatively warm in April; average temperature will be 14-17 degrees above zero. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be close to the norm (30-49 mm).

The country's Masalli, Yardimli, Lerik, and Astara won't be cold; average temperature will be 12-15 degrees above zero and monthly precipitation in the region will amount to 41-72 mm. Average temperature in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be 12-16 degrees above zero.
