The preparation of professional standards is being carried out under a joint project with the World Bank on the development of social protection launched in 2010.
"The projects on standards were presented to the commissions of transport and agriculture, which are to submit their opinions within 27 working days," the ministry said.
The ministry said it is planned to develop 200 professional, 100 teaching and 200 appraisal standards in the workplace. The main goal is to increase the competitiveness of Azerbaijani enterprises in world markets, including for ensuring human resource development.
Professional standards will be developed in line with international standards in five sectors of the economy: construction, agriculture, tourism, industry and alternative energy.
The standards will be updated every three years pursuant to the changes of international professional standards.
The goals of the projects are to develop professional standards and prepare certified specialists meeting international standards and then export these specialists to foreign labor markets.
It is also planned to establish an independent certification body which will issue certificates to qualified local specialists.
