The Green Week project implemented as part of the IDEA campaign (International Dialogue for action to protect the environment) and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) will be launched for the first time in Baku on November 12-16, a statement from the IDEA campaign reported on Friday.
Along with local guests, the event will be attended by specially invited representatives of international governmental and non-governmental organisations, youth leaders and other guests from around the world.
According to the statement, the first day of the Green Week will be organised by the International Youth Forum. The forum will discuss the results of the RIO +20 summit held in June, 2012.
The global 'green economy' and activities carried out in Azerbaijan and several European countries will be discussed during the second day of the event with the participation of more than 50 foreign representatives.
On November 14, environment diplomacy training will be organised at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. More than 300 youth representatives will take part in the programme planned in open lectures.
A round table discussion with the participation of representatives from government agencies and international organisations will be held on the fourth day of Green Week.
Green Week, organised by UNEP will be held in Azerbaijan, for the first time in the Caucasus.
The IDEA campaign, initiated on July 12, 2011 by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, has already implemented a number of local and international projects.
