
The Azerbaijani Press Council (PC) regrets about unresolved problem related to the streets newspapers. PC chairman Aflatun Amashov said the problem has two solutions; to sign the contract with Baku’s Mobile Trade Department and receive a license or create a “single window” system.
“The Baku City Executive Power prevents the sale of the newspapers in the streets,” Azerbaijan newspaper Editor-in -Chief Bakhtiyar Sadikhov said. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t eliminate this problem last year."
Executive Director of the State Support Fund for Media under the Azerbaijani President, Vugar Safarli, stressed that it was offered to create a separate organization for the newspaper distribution in 2011. “But some newspapers did not agree with this offer,” he said
The Press Council appealed to the Baku City Executive Power in connection with problems arising from the streets newspapers.
