Georgian President awards Sarkozy St Georges Order of Victory

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Friday received his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy at the presidential palace and awarded him the St Georges Order of Victory, the press service of the Georgian President said.

The French President made a one-day visit to Georgia on Friday as part of his Caucasus tour. During the visit, the two Presidents made a joint public speech in the Liberty Square in the center of Tbilisi.

According to the press office, Saakashvili presented to the guest the projects implemented and planned in the country and talked with him in an informal manner. Sarkozy received an award from the Georgian President for his "special support for Georgia, protection of the sovereignty of the Georgian State and strong support for national interests," he said.

In turn, Sarkozy conferred to Saakashvili the highest award of France - Order of the Legion of Honor.
