Russian Council of Federation ratifies agreement on extension of deployment period of Russian military base in Armenia till 2044

Russian Council of Federation ratified the document on extension of Russian-Armenia treaty signed in 1995 on deployment of Russian military base in Armenia’s Gumru city.

The agreement signed in August 2010 considers the extension of abovementioned agreement to 2044. The tenancy can be extended once 5 years as agreed by both parties.

Russian military base No. 102 is supplied with “S-300” missile complex and “MIG-29” fighter aircrafts. The number of the staff is more than 5000.
