Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi was summoned to the Parliamentary Security and Foreign Police Committee. One of the questions posed was regarding the fact that Iran does not react to Armenia’s support to the PKK terrorist organization, IRNA news agency reported.
Several Iranian MPs have signed a document to announce impeachment against Salehi, due to Mohammed Sharif Malikzadeh’s appointment as deputy foreign minister for financial affairs. However, the MPs believe that Salehi should clarify some dark areas.
The MPs believe that Malikzadeh was involved in corruption and other offenses. Salehi was summoned to the Parliamentary Security and Foreign Police Committee. The Committee member Nader Ghazipour asked Salehi why Iran does not react to Armenia, which supports the PKK terrorist organization.
According to IRNA news agency, Salehi promised that serious investigation will be conducted and actions will be taken in this regard.
News agencies are reporting varying information regarding the number of MPs who have signed the impeachment document. According to Mehr news agency 15 MPs have signed, while ISNA news agency reports that 25 MPs have signed the document.
Under law, 10 MP votes are required to impeach a minister. Impeachment is scheduled for Monday if the MPs do not recall their signatures.
