Dmitry Gvindadze was appointed the new finance minister, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said at a special briefing at the State Chancellery. He also accepted the resignation of former minister Kakha Baindurashvili.
He said it was Baindurashvili's own decision as he is going to hold the position of Georgian Post Office supervisory board chairman.
"We are grateful to Baindurashvili for the work he had carried out," he said. "We consider it successful."
The new minister will begin working from Monday, Gilauri said.
