There are more than 6,000 street women in Iranian prisons

The study of the situation with the women engaged in lechery shows that there are 6,053 prostitute women in the country's prisons, most of whom are aged 12 - 25 years old, the official website of the Iranian Center for research of women problems, womenrc.com, reported.

Deputy commander of the Iranian police Ahmedrza Radan said to a press conference that the country has the opportunity to provide jobs for 400 - 500 prostitute women, MEHR news agency reported. Radan did not mention the number of street women.

The Center said that it is impossible to officially set the number of street women in the country. Formerly, the public affairs department of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children of Iran said that only in the streets of Tehran, the police arrested 2,000 prostitutes and 500 girls ran away from home. Experts believe that number is more than 4,000.
