Armenia, Iran to implement "electricity in exchange for gas" project

11 February 2011 [12:35] - TODAY.AZ
Armenia’s electricity consumption is expected to increase by 23% in 2011 as compared to the previous year, says the report issued by the local Public Services Regulatory Commission.

The growth is mainly conditioned by agreement on supplies of electricity in exchange for gas signed between Armenia and Iran. Armenia is expected to supply 2.4 billion kWh in exchange for 801 million cubic meters of Iranian gas.

This program will include the fifth unit of Hrazdan TPP and renovated Yerevan TPP.
