Turkey to act as coordinator on Europe's civil aviation trainings

European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Executive Board assigned Turkey as coordinator country on Europe's civil aviation trainings.
Turkish Transportation Ministry Civil Aviation Directorate General said Turkish civil aviation achieved a very important success in Europe.

ECAC Executive Board, convened in Spain, decided Turkey to act as coordinator country in European civil aviation trainings.

Ali Ariduru, Director General of Civil Aviation, was designated as chairman for training.

Officials said this success would enable Turkey assume a very important role in determining training policies in Europe's civil aviation and also important with regard to Turkey's target to become a training and maintenance base.

The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) is an international organisation of States which was formed with the assistance and involvement of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and held its inaugural session in Strasbourg in 1955. The 18 Founder Members have since been joined by many others and now total 44. The Conference has working relationships with other key European organisations which have aviation sector interests and responsibilities including EASA and EUROCONTROL.

ECAC was founded to "promote the continued development of a safe, efficient and sustainable European air transport system by harmonising civil aviation policies and practices amongst its Member States and promoting understanding on policy matters between its Member States and other parts of the world".

There are 27 EU member countries and 17 non-EU member countries in ECAC. Representatives from Portugal, Denmark, France, Germany, Turkey, Finland, Romania, Britain, the Netherlands, and Spain are in the Executive Board, which is the execution organ of ECAC.
