Iranian FM says Clinton's remarks are new form of deceit

16 February 2010 [13:37] - TODAY.AZ
Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the remarks of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about Iran was a new form of deception.
Mottaki made the remark on Tuesday in answer to a reporter's question on Iran’s reaction to Clinton’s recent remarks in which she accused Iran of military dictatorship.

He expressed his regret about the illusory sense of the US secretary of state regarding the realities of Iran and her attempt to conceal the real stands of her government and herself. He added that Clinton has used a chain of hollow words in a bid to channel the regional public opinion towards unreal and incorrect issues.

He said such remarks would be of no use for Clinton with the regional elite, knowledgeable people and all committed officials because they were quite aware of the true meaning of her remarks.

In response to part of her speech, he asked if the killing of one million defenseless people in Iraq including the elderly and children by the US is a true case of military dictatorship or Iran's constructive interaction with Iraqi people through hosting tens of thousands of Iraqi immigrants and supporting Baghdad government in building up security and self-determination.

Making another comparison, he also asked: “Isn’t it a case of military dictatorship to invade wedding ceremonies in Afghanistan and killing innocent people who have lost their homes or to host three millions Afghan immigrants and coping with the consequences of such a benevolent act?”

He stressed that America’s repeated strategic failures in Lebanon, Gaza and Afghanistan as well as in recent US Senate elections forced US officials to indulge in creating crises for democratic and independent countries in the form of soft warfare to hide their dishonest face.

Mottaki said that the brave Iranian nation proved its firm will in supporting the very pillars of the Islamic Revolution, namely independence, freedom and an Islamic Republic by their massive turnout in February 11 demonstrations.

He further recommended Mrs. Clinton as well as other US statesmen to adopt a realistic approach and open their eyes to realities and let other nations and countries determine their own destiny.
