The attempt of Armenia to get a foothold on the platform of French-speaking countries under the pretext of holding a Francophonie summit is unpromising, the chief editor of the Baki Kheber newspaper, political expert Aydin Guliyev told Trend Oct. 9.

He noted that Armenia sees the Francophonie summit as a possible way out of the position of "outcast" state in the world.

"It is this intention that stands behind their attempts to inflate and present the Francophonie summit to the world. Armenia’s leadership in the process of rapprochement of French-speaking countries does not have any historical, humanitarian, linguistic and cultural basis," the expert said.

The expert noted that Armenia remained aloof from the integration processes of the states.

He said due to Azerbaijan's clever diplomacy, Armenia is completely excluded from the Eurasian integration.

"The facts show that today Azerbaijan, a Muslim country, cooperates more closely with the Vatican, the center of Christianity, than Armenia. In such conditions, Armenia has no other way than to intrude in the platform of French-speaking countries under the pretext of holding a Francophonie summit. However, this path is hopeless. This is evidenced by the fact that not a single French leader has participated in this event until today,” Guliyev said.

He added that today Armenia is far from all multicultural values, no representatives of other nations live in that country, and there is no chance of interreligious and interethnic tolerance.

"One day the French-speaking countries will realize that the mission of the Francophonie summit, which Armenia has assumed, is a bluff, and will understand the absurdity of Armenia’s leadership in this movement and will boycott the Francophonie summit in Armenia,” Guliyev added.
