Tajik banks allocate loans worth almost $1B

The total value of loans issued by Tajik financial institutions as of early April this year was more than 8.1 billion somoni ($905 million), Sputnik Tajikistan news agency reported citing the National Bank of Tajikistan.

The value of credit organizations’ deposits amounted to over 9 billion somoni in the reporting period, according to the bank.

Loans are provided in national and foreign currencies. Majority of the loans are short-term ones.

The total value of credit organizations’ deposits in Tajikistan was 9.3 billion somoni in 2017. The value of deposits, except for those in two problem banks (Tojiksodirotbank OJSC and Agroinvestbank OJSC), increased by more than 30 percent or by 1.7 billion somoni.
