Sochi meeting of Turkey, Russia, Iran presidents important for region’s future: Erdogan

The meeting of presidents of Turkey, Russia and Iran is important for the future of the region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the country’s media reported on November 21.

Erdogan said that despite a number of disagreements between Turkey and Russia, today the two countries show a single stance on the settlement of the Syrian crisis.

The president of Turkey noted that Iran is also an important partner in the settlement of the Syrian crisis.

Erdogan added that he and presidents of Russia and Iran will discuss the Syrian crisis during a meeting in Sochi on Nov. 22.

Erdogan on Nov. 13 visited Sochi and during a meeting there with Russian president discussed the situation in Syria.

Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has claimed more than 500,000 lives.
