Turkmenistan becomes member of Inter-Parliamentary Union

Turkmenistan has been admitted to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message on October 17.

The decision was made at a session of the IPU Governing Council in St. Petersburg, Russia.

“The accession of Turkmenistan to the IPU is another evidence of the international recognition of the successful work done in the country to strengthen civil institutions and democratic values,” said the message.

The IPU, headquartered in Geneva, is one of the oldest international organizations and one of the most representative international structures for interparliamentary diplomacy.
