Tehran is hosting a national exhibition on high-tech innovations in a bid to promote links between the science-based entities and industrial units.

Some 160 companies with innovative plans in various fields, such as healthcare, chemicals, automotive industry, energy, and construction are showcasing their achievements on the fairground.

Hamzeh Ghojavand, a senior expert at the Presidential Department for Science and Technology, told Trend that a number of firms have already managed to sell their innovations to major companies.

"One example is Raimon Nano Exir, which produces nano-substance for restoration of hard tissue. They have signed a contract with a subsidiary of the famous sanitation holding Golrang to provide them with a substance for restoring teeth."

"This substance can be used in toothpastes as well as chewing gums," Ghojavand explained.

According to Ghojavand, another successful high-tech exhibitor is Radsys Pooshesh.

"This company has signed a contract with auto parts maker Jamsaz. They will be providing headlights with an anti-UV coating that keeps them from growing both opaque and fragile."

The Iranian government has been attaching high significance to nanotech as a science-based activity and a pillar of the country’s economic progress for the coming decades.

Authorities in 2016 said that Iran’s science ranking had improved to 6th outrunning Japan and following China, the US, India, South Korea and Germany.
