Putin expresses condolences to Erdogan over Istanbul attack

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over a deadly terrorist attack in Istanbul and expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be punished, the Kremlin press service said, Sputnik International reported.

On Dec. 10 night, two bombs exploded near the Vodafone Arena Stadium, killing dozens of people.

“The Russian leader has resolutely condemned this vile and cynical crime and expressed confidence that the perpetrators and the ringleaders would not escape retribution,” the press service said. “The Russian president has emphasized that this tragedy once again confirms the necessity of joint efforts aimed at hard-line fight against terrorism.”

According to the latest data, death toll in the Istanbul terror attack has reached 38 people, 30 of them being police officers. A total of 155 people are being treated in hospitals. Putin expressed condolences to the families of victims and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
