Completion of the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline through the Black Sea for Russian gas supplies to Turkey has been synchronized with the contract for gas transit through Ukraine that expires in Dec. 2019, RIA Novosti reported Oct. 15 citing Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

Currently, Russian gas is delivered to Turkey via the Blue Stream gas pipeline through the Black Sea and Trans-Balkan gas pipeline through Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria.

Novak also noted that the Turkish Stream pipeline’s infrastructure will be built until late 2019.

Russia and Turkey signed an intergovernmental agreement on the implementation of the Turkish Stream project on Oct. 10. The agreement is for construction of two branches of the pipeline through the Black Sea, the capacity of each branch being 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas.
