IRGC disbands terrorist group in western Iran

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) disbanded a terror team belonging to PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) terrorist group in western Iran, Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Rajabi, the IRGC commander in the western Iranian Kurdistan Province, said.

A terrorist cell affiliated to PJAK, who were trying to enter the country near the border city of Marivan, were identified by the IRGC and forced to flee, Rajabi said, Tasnim news agency reported.

Rajabi further said that the group was armed with light and semi-heavy weapons tried to confront with the security forces using the RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade, but failed.

He added that several weapons were seized from the terrorists.

It should be noted that members of PJAK, which is affiliated with Turkey's PKK are regularly targeted by Iranian forces in northwestern Iran.
