Turkmenistan preparing draft state budget for 2017

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on drawing up the country's state budget for 2017, according to a message of the Turkmen government spread May 14.

The budget's drawing up was touched upon at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen president at the meeting underlined importance of providing a further increase in production efficiency and introduction of advanced technologies in all sectors of economy during the preparation of the draft budget.

Berdimuhamedov said that special attention should be paid to the issues of efficient use of investment opportunities, creation of new enterprises and jobs, stimulation of private sector.

Creation of modern infrastructure in all regions, improvement of social sphere, improving the well-being of the Turkmen citizens also remain key areas, the president said.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of natural gas and has opportunities to export it to China and Iran. Meanwhile, Russia suspended the purchases of Turkmen gas in 2016.

The revenue part of the budget of the country is mainly formed due to such sectors of the industry as oil and gas, chemical, electric power industry, construction.
