Uzbekistan, Canada intend to develop trade, economic co-op

The issues of development of the Uzbek-Canadian cooperation in the trade and economic, investment, tourism and other spheres were discussed during the 6th round of the ministerial political consultations in Ottawa, Canada, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said Apr. 22.

The delegation of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade was led by Matthew Levin, director general of Europe and Eurasia Bureau.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the 5th round of political consultations that was held in early 2015 in Tashkent.

During the political consultations particular attention was paid to the prospects of deepening bilateral ties and the existing substantial potential for cooperation.

The delegations also discussed the topical international and regional problems, including the situation in Afghanistan.

The diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Canada were established in April 1992.
