Akja Nurberdieva, the chairperson of the Turkmen parliament, has received credentials from the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Philipp Stalder, the Turkmen government said.

The sides expressed mutual opinion about the prospects of a business partnership in trade-economic, fuel-energy and humanitarian spheres, agriculture, sport and tourism, as well as other important areas. Turkmenistan and Switzerland give priority to these areas.

Strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations and exchange of lawmaking experience in the context of the prospects of the Turkmen-Swiss cooperation, developed on a bilateral and multilateral basis, primarily, within the EU and UN were also discussed.

There are more than 30 companies with Swiss capital in Turkmenistan. The sides call the fuel and energy complex, transport and communications, high-tech industrial sectors, investments, tourism and others as the promising areas for cooperation.

Turkmenistan is interested in cooperation with Switzerland in such areas as the mechanical engineering, chemical, processing and food industry, pharmaceutical and biochemical production.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Switzerland in October 2012 intensified the relations between the two countries. A package of documents was signed following the visit.
