11 November 2015 [10:11] - TODAY.AZ
The death toll in the rupture of two tailings dams last week in Mariana, southeast Brazil, has reached six, authorities said Tuesday. Twenty-two people remained missingç Xinhuareported.

Over the past few days, people and animals were evacuated from the disaster area.

Samarco, the mining company that owns the two dams, is relocating residents to unaffected areas, and will pay their housing rent.

Since the mishap occurred Thursday, the mud flow created after the disaster has reached the Doce River and is expected to reach the Atlantic by this weekend. It has disrupted water distribution in several regions.

Samarco, owned by Brazil's Vale and the UK's BHP Billiton, was barred by the local government from mining iron ore.
