Some 38 Iranians killed in Syria over past 20 days

06 November 2015 [17:50] - TODAY.AZ

Two Iranian members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have reportedly been killed in Syria, increasing Tehran’s death toll to 38.

A missile hit a car carrying “Rouhollah Qorbani” and “Qadir Sarlak” in Aleppo’s outskirts in Northern Syria on Nov 4, Fars news agency reported.

On Nov 5, the Mashreq news website reported that Iran’s death toll in Syria has increased to 38 since Damascus conducted its latest military operation, dubbed “Muharram”.

The Syrian army, backed by the Russian Air Force, IRGC and Lebanon's Hezbollah, launched the massive “Muharram” operation on October 15, aimed at taking over control of Aleppo.

ABNA news agency, which is close to the IRGC, reported that a member of Lebanon's Hezbollah, known as “hajj Javad”, was also killed on the same day in Syria.

Iran denies that it has deployed soldiers to fight in Syria, and says it only provides the Syrian army with military advisers.
