UAV crashes in Iran

08 October 2015 [15:57] - TODAY.AZ

An unmanned aerial vehicle crashed Oct. 8 near the village of Tumar Qamish of the city of Saqqez in Iran’s Kurdistan Province.

Iranian news agency Kurdpress reported Oct. 8 that the Saqqez city head, Ali Akbar Varmaqani confirmed the report about the crash and said the UAV’s debris was found at the crash site.

“Security forces have taken the UAV’s debris to a military unity in Saqqez,” he said, adding that an investigation is underway.

Varmaqani also noted that the UAV belonged to Iran.

Some Iranian media outlets earlier reported that the UAV exploded mid-air and that there were two more aircraft over the same territory when the incident took place.
