Iran to not allow extremists to damage its ties with regional states

15 September 2015 [12:30] - TODAY.AZ

Iran is not going to permit extremists to damage the relations of the regional countries, the Islamic Republic’s Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Arab Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said.

He further said that Tehran welcomes bilateral and multilateral dialogue between the regional states, Iran ’s official IRNA news agency reported Sept. 15.

The top Iranian diplomat also touched upon recent speculation on Tehran-Kuwait ties, saying the two parities work within the parameters set by their leaders in developing mutual cooperation.

Iran and Kuwait enjoy constructive relations, he stressed.

The Amir of Kuwait and President of the Islamic Republic are taking necessary measures regarding mutual and regional issues, Amir Abdollahian said, adding the two leaders make efforts to safeguard sustainable stability and security in the region.

Kuwaiti media recently claimed a relation between Tehran and a group of individuals who were detained by Kuwait ’s judicial authorities on charges of spying for Iran and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

It should be noted that early in September Kuwait charged 24 people, including one Iranian, with “spying for Tehran and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group to carry out aggressive acts against the State of Kuwait” by smuggling in and assembling explosives, as well as possessing firearms and ammunition.

Iran’s Embassy in Kuwait slammed the accusations and criticized the Kuwaiti government for not making any official announcement on the matter.

Amir Abdollahian earlier said that Tehran considers the security of Kuwait as its own.
