Kazakh president’s daughter named deputy prime minister

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s eldest daughter, Dariga Nazarbayeva has been appointed the deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan, said Kazakh president’s press office.

“By the decree of the head of state, Dariga Nazarbayeva is appointed the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” read President Nazarbayev’s decree, dated Sept. 11,

Dariga Nazarbayeva earlier worked as the deputy speaker of Majilis, the lower chamber of Kazakhstan’s parliament.

In the new position, she replaces Berdibek Saparbayev, who was on Sept. 11 appointed the akim of the country’s Aktobe province.
