Iran, Austria boosting science co-op

Austria’s federal minister of science, research and economy, Reinhold Mitterlehner visited Iran with chancellors of 17 Austrian universities.

Minister Mitterlehner is being represented within Austrian President Heinz Fischer’s delegation that is on an official trip to Iran, the ISNA agency quoted Hossein Salar Amoli, the Iranian science, research and technology minister’s deputy in charge of international affairs, as saying Sept. 7.

Austrian president is being accompanied by heads of 130 companies and various officials on his visit to Iran.

Salar Amoli said the Austrian science delegation is the largest scientific staff to visit Iran.

He added that during the visit Iran and Austria will sign seven documents.

“One of those documents will be signed between the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy,” said Salar Amoli.

He added that the remaining six documents will be signed for strengthening cooperation between universities of Iran and Austria.

Salar Amoli also said Iran will offer scholarships at its universities for Austria.

“We are interested in enhancing the two countries’ cooperation in student and teacher exchange and in the area of scholarships,” he added.
