Uzbekistan increases pensions, salaries

The amount of salaries of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions and social allowances, scholarships increased by an average of 10 percent in Uzbekistan since September 1, 2015 in accordance with the decree of President Islam Karimov adopted last week.

Since September 1, the minimum wage is set at 130,240 soums (UZS) per month, the minimum old-age pension and allowances to disabled from childhood – 254,730 soums, benefits for the elderly and disabled citizens without the required work experience – 156,310 soums per month, according to the decree.

The official exchange rate for September 2 is 2595.52 UZS / $1.

All kinds of allowances and bonuses to wages and pensions, compensation and other payments established in relation to the minimum wage, are implemented since September 1 from the minimum wage amount specified by the decree.

The costs associated with an increase in wages of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions, allowances and scholarships are implemented by the state budget and extra-budgetary Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance.

Self-supporting associations, businesses and organizations will implement wage increases in line with the minimum wage by increasing production efficiency and reducing labor costs.

The previous increase in the minimum wage by an average of 10 percent took place in Uzbekistan December 15, 2014. Then, the minimum wage was set at 118,400 soums per month, the minimum old-age pension and allowances to disabled from childhood – 231,575 soums, benefits for the elderly and disabled citizens without the required work experience – 142,100 soums per month.
