Turkmenistan, Afghanistan sign package of intergovernmental documents

A ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held following the talks in Kabul between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani as part of President Berdimuhamedov’s official visit to Afghanistan, the Turkmen government said Aug. 28.

The Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan and Financial Supervision Department of Afghanistan signed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the exchange of financial data related to the legalization of proceeds obtained in a criminal way and terrorist financing.

The memorandum of understanding on further development of cooperation in the energy sector between the government of Turkmenistan and the government of Afghanistan is also among the signed documents.

The sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of sport, the agreement on cooperation in science and technology, the agreement on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan joint intergovernmental commission for trade-economic cooperation.

The presidents signed the joint statement.
