05 August 2015 [15:55] - TODAY.AZ

A number of economic issues were discussed during the meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey and Russia Mevlut Cavusoglu and Sergey Lavrov, Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted Aug. 5.

The meeting took place within the framework of the summit of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member countries in Malaysia.

Turkish foreign minister said that the Syrian crisis and the Crimean issue were also discussed.

Earlier, Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey doesn’t accept the annexation of Crimea to Russia.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara would send a delegation to the Crimea for a comprehensive study of the situation of the Crimean Tatars.

He also previously said Russia didn’t fulfill its promises about the Crimean Tatars.

“Russia promised Ankara to give the Tatar language the status of the state language [in Crimea], but has not fulfilled the promises,” Cavusoglu said.

He added that Russia also promised that the Crimean Tatars will be represented in the government agencies, but this did not happen either.

These promises were given by the Russian president during his visit to Ankara on December 1, 2014.
