Turkmenistan, Russia intensify regional cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov exchanged views on key aspects of the general partnership during a telephone conversation, the government of Turkmenistan said June 30.

The partnership is strategic. It has long-standing experience and considerable potential for further intensification of the relations in a wide range of areas.

The sides stressed the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation at the regional level. The two sides also exchanged views on relevant regional and international issues of mutual interest.

"In this context, the commitment of Turkmenistan and Russia to the constructive partnership was reaffirmed as part of the authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN, to ensure global peace, security and prosperity," a statement said.

President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed the invitation for his Russian counterpart to visit Turkmenistan, as well as take part in the international conference devoted to the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality status, to be held in Ashgabat in December 2015.

At the end of the conversation the two leaders expressed confidence that the traditional interstate dialogue will continue successfully developing.

The telephone conversation was initiated by the Russian side.

Russia holds leading positions in the ranking of the largest foreign trade partners of Turkmenistan. The cooperation between the two countries has been recently intensified at the regional level.

More than 190 companies with Russian capital have been registered in Turkmenistan.
They are implementing more than 240 investment projects.

Revival, KAMAZ, Itera companies and Siberia airlines and others are among the traditional partners.
