Sunshine will grace the closing ceremony of the 1st Baku European Games.

The weather forecast for the closing ceremony, which is scheduled for June 28, calls for sun and no chance of precipitation.

Temperatures are expected to be between 30 and 35 degrees C.

Azerbaijan’s climate has nine of eleven types of climatic zones. Geographic location and the Caspian Sea influence the country’s climate.

Summer in Baku can be quite hot with dry sunny days. The average daily high temperature is about 25 degrees Celsius, with breezes from the cool northern “Khazri” winds.

Baku is also called a City of Winds because it is windy throughout most of the year. It was often recorded in the early 20th century that strong winds blew dust and debris, making it unbearable to walk outside in the summers. However now, as a result of the urban planning and construction projects, the city’s winds add a degree of comfort from the heat.

The organizers of the Baku 2015 Closing Ceremony promise a spectacular farewell.

Simon Clegg, the chief Operating Officer of the Baku 2015 European Games said that the committee has began preparations for the farewell ceremony, to be held at the new Olympic Stadium in Baku with a capacity of 68,000 spectators.

Earlier, some local media outlets have circulated rumors that the closing ceremony would be feature performances by world-renowned pop stars like Queen of pop Madonna, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Ricky Martin.

Clegg said that the ceremony will resemble a carnival, however, he gave no information about celebrities who will attend the event.

The CEO said that the closing ceremony will differ from the unforgettable June 12 opening ceremony. He stressed that this time, athletes will participate in the closing ceremony.

Tickets for the ceremony have sold out, but viewers in Baku and across the world, will be able to enjoy the closing ceremony live on Baku2015.com and YouTube at 9pm Baku time on Sunday.

The European Games are surely a mega event hosting 6,000 athletes from 50 nations. Athletes are competing in 20 sports, of which 16 are Olympic disciplines and 12 are using the Games as an Olympic qualifier for Rio 2016.
