Turkey will continue supporting the efforts on achieving stability in Afghanistan, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, Turkish TV channel TRT Haber reported.

Davutoglu was delivering speech at a meeting of foreign ministers of the NATO member-states.

“The stability in Afghanistan is of particular importance for Turkey,” he said. “Ankara will leave its peacekeepers in Afghanistan.”

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Turkey will increase the number of servicemen in its peacekeeping contingent in Afghanistan up to 1,100 people.

“Turkey intends to participate in the operation of the Kabul International Airport,” Cavusoglu said. “For this purpose, Ankara has allocated 50 million euros.”

A meeting of foreign ministers of the NATO member-states is being held in the Turkish province of Antalya on May 13.
