Germany supports Georgia's aspirations to integrate into the European family.

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel had a phone call with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to discuss the country's activity in view of achieving a sit at the EU table.

The two leaders focused mostly on the "successful reforms implemented by Georgia in a short period", read a statement from the PM's office.

Tbilisi has so far implemented a number of reforms stipulated in the Association Agreement signed between Georgia and the European Union.

The sides also discussed the current situation in the region and the importance of the upcoming Riga Eastern Partnership Summit and visa liberalization for Georgia.

The German chancellor confirmed her scheduled visit to Georgia.

"The exact date of the visit will be announced as soon as it is decided," Garibashvili's press office said.

Merkel also expressed her hope that the partnership between Georgia and Germany would continue to grow.

The Georgian leadership announced overtly that the country belongs to the European civilization and that it wants to be part of the old continent. Knocking on Europe’s door serves Georgia's strong desire to enter the European family.

Although Tbilisi knows there is little room left at the European table, the country is still pursuing its European ambition, keen to press ahead. The AA deal with the EU is an "immense progress" for Georgia in terms of integrating into the EU, or at least so believe the country's authorities.
