Iran, Iraq sign 7 cooperation agreements

 Iran and Iraq signed seven cooperation agreements to boost ties in different fields.

Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri signed the agreements with Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Baghdad, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported on Feb. 16.

An agreement to hold the third joint economic commission, an agreement on geological and mineral cooperation, an agreement on animal husbandry, an agreement on tourism, an agreement on road and air transportation, and an agreement on holding exhibitions were signed by the two sides.

Jahangiri traveled to Iraq at the invitation of Iraqi prime minister, Haider al-Abadi.

During his three-day trip, Jahangiri will also meet with Iraqi President, Fuad Masum, Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri and Foreign Minister Ibrahim al- Jaafari.

The two sides would explore mutual cooperation in such areas as trade, technical and engineering, power and energy, building, sanitation and medical training.
