Armenia’s aggressive policy has led to its isolation from the economic projects in the region.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu made the remark at the Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, AzerTag news agency reported.

Davutoglu spoke of the results of Armenia’s aggressive policy this state pursues against Azerbaijan and the problems it caused in region.

He further said many were doubtful for realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project.

Notwithstanding the conflicts in the region, Azerbaijan has achieved great success in the spheres of economy and energy, Davutoglu stressed.

“Nevertheless, the peace and development policy was realized and it began to bring much profit to Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia. Armenia was isolated from the regional projects as it continues its aggressive policy and occupies 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands,” he said.

Davutoglu further said Turkey has always stood for the resolution of conflicts in South Caucasus, including in Nagorno-Karabakh, stressing that conflicts in the South Caucasus have negative impact on Turkey.

He urged Armenia to immediately withdraw its forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.

Aside from the South Caucasus, the neighboring countries also face conflicts and Turkey stands for stability in the region, according to Davutoglu.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal. Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
