NATO welcomes Georgia's commitment to continuation of the Euro-Atlantic integration, said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

"I hail Georgia's commitment and position on the Euro-Atlantic integration as an unambiguous approach. It matches the decision, which we approved in NATO Summit in 2008," Stoltenberg noted in a joint press-conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

He added that NATO is ready to work on the package, which was agreed in Wales to strengthen Georgia's defensibility. “We do it based on our respect for the sovereignty of Georgia. It was decided to create a training center and it will be created," Stoltenberg said.

He added that Georgia will be a NATO member as soon as it fulfills all criteria of the alliance.

"Georgia approached NATO in recent years and it will be a NATO member-state after meeting all requirements. We will further support the country in this way," Stoltenberg said.

NATO sees Georgia as one of the most devoted partners, which plays a great role in the alliance's peaceful operations. The South Caucasus country owns strong aspirations for being a NATO member. It has implemented major defense reforms to prove its ability to operate effectively alongside the forces of the military union.
